Dna fingerprintingDna fingerprinting is a method to identify individuals. Dna fingerprinting is also known as genetic fingerprinting or Dna profiling. Dna fingerprinting is mostly used to identify criminals and maternity and personal identification. Dna fingerprinting has been around since 1985. Sir Alec Jefferey is the inventor.
applications/uses
1.Paternity and maternty
since children inherit their fingerprinting from their paternts, chilldren can use their fingerprints to figure out who their parents are.
2. Criminal identification and Forensics
Evidence from the crime scene (blood, hair, skin cells etc) is compared to suspects dna and fingerprints to identify the criminals.

History
-in 1894 scientists discovered everyone had differeent fingerprints.
-In 1920 Edmond Locard, a French criminalist, founded the first crime lab in France.
-In 1923, the first US crime lab was opened in Los Angeles, California.
-In 1932 the FBI opened the first federal crime lab.
